Welcome to Reykholt

Reykholt is a mystical place where it is tempting to imagine the life of the historian Snorri Sturluson(1278-1241) who resided here from 1206-1241 with his family and great numbers of friends and followers.

Through  the archaeologica excavations that have been performed during the recent years, a clearer picture is emerging as to the way of life at the time of Snorri.

At the moment the biograpfhy of Snorri Sturluson is being written and the author, the historian Óskar Guðmundsson who resides in Reykholt can be seen working at the book in the library of Snorrastofa.

Guesthouse Reykholt is a new and friendly guesthouse located at Hallveigartrod 6, in Reykholt but the street is named after the wife of the great historian Snorri Sturluson who resided in Reykholt from 1206-1241.
The guesthouse is very conveniently situated just above the Hótel Reykholt were it is possible to dine and wine.

Take 9 holes on the family friendly golfcourse or just walk around the aeria,  enjoy the exhibition at Snorrastofa, the research center, look at the library and the Reykholts church or do some serious shopping in the souvenir shop.
The view from the guesthouse is spectacular as you may be able to see the glaciers, Ok and Langjökull on a clear day.

During the winter it is wonderful to sit in the tub as Snorri Sturluson once did in his tub, (you can see the picture of his tub on this page) and look at the starlit sky or even at the Northern lights (Aurora borealis) if one is lucky in the fall or in the spring.

For those that require privacy there is a small studioflat in the house with a little kitchen and bathroom, dining aeria and livingroom. You can walk on to the patio to the hot tub from the flat. You can enter the flat from a seperate entrance or through a small hallway from the house.
